About Us

The Ministry for Pacific Peoples is the Crown’s principal advisor on policies and interventions that improve outcomes for Pacific Peoples.

We are here to ensure the success of our Pacific young people flowing through the pipeline from early childhood education (ECE), to schooling, tertiary education and finally the workforce, entrepreneurship and their own families.

Pacific Language Weeks

The Ministry for Pacific Peoples works closely with Pacific communities’ to maintain and promote heritage languages. Part of this work is the Ministry’s support for Pacific Language Weeks, which have grown significantly since Samoan Language Week was first celebrated in 2007. 

The dates for the 2018 Pacific Language Weeks have been announced.
